If you'd rather not think about tomorrow's climactic events, why not spare a thought for Egypt's brilliant filmmaker Salah Abu Sayf, who passed away sixteen years ago today? The Independent published quite a good obituary at the time of his death, and of course, we can still admire his amazing corpus of film classics. One of my all-time favourites is the stunning Technicolor melodrama, Sleepless (La anam):
